Uh, oh....it has begun...

Yesterday evening, while Joanna was eating her dinner, she kept repeating over and over 'nnnnnnnnnna!' 'nnnnnnnnnna!' 'nnnnnnnnnnna!' followed by a huge laugh. At first, I couldn't quite figure out what she was trying to do/say and thought it was just a fleeting babble moment for her, but just as soon as she was done laughing she started the routine again....'nnnnnnnnna!' 'nnnnnnnnnna!' 'nnnnnnnnnna!' (belly laugh). Then it clicked (or so I thought)! Was she trying to say her name!?! So I joined in with her, trying to encourage her to say her name : 'Jo-annnnnnnnnna!' The two of us sang back and forth for a good 2 minutes echoing each other's 'nnnnnnnnnnna!' Joanna just laughed and laughed every time I copied her and I of course was beaming with excitement thinking that she was moments away from blurting out her name!!
The moment soon passed and the rest of the evening passed as usual. We woke up this morning, had a very uneventful day, until about 4:00 when all of a sudden I hear the thump of the cabinet door in the kitchen....out comes Joanna running across the room screaming 'na!' 'na!' 'na!' and shaking her head from side to side. She stopped right in front of me, looking for a reaction.....I responded 'no, no, no???" That's it!!.....she wasn't trying to say her name, she was learning how to say "no" So, the rest of the night Joanna would find 'trouble' around the house and then correct herself by saying (in a very stern, matter of fact, tone) 'na! na! na!' while shaking her head back and forth. :)
The funniest part of the whole thing....after putting her to bed tonight I started thinking to myself, I wonder why she says it three times instead of just once?? And then I realized that when I tell her "No" it's usually a string of 3 quick 'no no no's'....it really is amazing how they pick up on the smallest details....
I'm reeeeeallly looking forward to the time she decides to put her 'na's' into action for real and not just for fun......

That is so funny! Joanna is getting to be such a gig girl! Jack also says almost everything in threes and I finally realized it's because I say everything in threes to him. :)
