We are fortunate enough to have a couple of playgrounds to choose from in our neighborhood -- the one we always ended up walking to, was very dated and in desperate need of a facelift. To our surprise, the city of Fairfield felt the same way, and just a couple of months ago, they began replacing the tired, worn-out playground equipment with new, vibrant and exciting structures!! The kids were sooo excited by the thought of a new playground, we even took walks to the park just to sit and watch the construction team work on the new set-up...Construction was delayed a few times by rain, and every time we drove past that street (which happened at least 5 times a week), Joanna would say 'Ok, mom! Let's see if the fence is down!?' Time after time, she was disappointed, and even stopped wondering after the many let-downs. Until, one day, we drove past -- Joanna didn't bother asking her usual question out loud -- and the FENCE WAS DOWN!! Joanna was so excited, her eyes got misty and her hands clenched to her face in shear joy: 'Now Daddy can take us to the brand new park!!!' This was a friday, and it was hard to convince her that we had to wait a WHOLE day before we could go play, because we wanted Daddy to share in the fun...but she waited, and asked, and waited, and asked, and finally, it was time!!
Now this is a Heusser Family kind of see-saw -- everyone fits!
Before the playground makeover, we were usually the only ones at the park -- but the new structures have brought kids and families out of the woodwork! They are flocking to the park daily! It's nice to know we live in an area that cares -- I know the kids are thankful!

Nothing like a good local park--one thing I dislike about San Antonio as parks are sorely lacking!
