Memories in Mendocino

The Heusser household has had a rough past 3 weeks -- we've been fighting some crazy illnesses and can't seem to shake the buggers!  Hopefully the 'bugs' have run out of tricks and are ready to leave us alone soon!  Despite it all, Randy and I were able to sneak in an 8th wedding anniversary trip to Mendocino, CA between the wave of sickness.  Although we won't officially hit the 8 year mark until the end of April, we wanted to take advantage of Grandma and Grandpa McKinley's generous offer to watch the kids for a few days!  And a very generous offer it was, considering the kids were in the thick of the illnesses!

I'm not quite sure how we decided on Mendocino, a small Northern CA costal town -- but I am glad that we did!  The weather was not the best during our stay (in fact, it rained all but 3-4 hours we were there) but we didn't mind -- the cottage we stayed in was just perfect for rainy weather and it truly felt like we had 'escaped' :)  We had all these great intentions to roam the beaches, ride the skunk train, go hiking, horseback riding and to the botanical gardens, but alas, we ended up strolling the beaches in between rain storms and mostly just laying around doing a whole lot of nothing...which was perfect.  The locals were entertainment enough -- it actually almost felt like we were in the twilight zone or something... We had a great time and would definitely love to go back!  Here are some pictures we were able to snap in between the rain!

A great way to celebrate eight wonderful years together, and hopefully countless more to come!
