As you can see, it has been a VERY long while since I lasted posted! And, a lot has happened in
Heusser Land. The biggest news....we are expecting identical twin boys!! I found out shortly after my last post that I was pregnant and we celebrated the exciting news, waiting for my first ultrasound at 8 weeks. To my absolute shock, the ultrasound tech told me that he had found 2 heartbeats and that the babies were in the same amniotic sac, making them identical!! As if being told you are pregnant wasn't enough, being told that you are pregnant with twins is a whole other story!! Although we were so excited about the news, we had to undergo a few more ultrasounds in the following weeks, just to make sure everything was OK with the babies' condition -- this delayed Randy's deployment by about 3 weeks. All of the ultrasounds concluded that the twins were doing well and that they had shown no signs of any of the complications that can come with carrying
identicals. I am now 18 weeks pregnant, and looking about 28 weeks pregnant! :) Randy left for his deployment in the beginning of August and will be home in the beginning of October. I found out 3 weeks ago, during a routine ultrasound, that the twins are boys -- I had a feeling! So now, we are just trying to prepare for life as a family of 5!! I have started another blog dedicated to updating you on how the twins are developing -- if you would like to keep updated, visit
www.blogspot.heussertwins.com I am already behind in updates for that blog, but I will do my best to keep it semi-up to date :)
Joanna and I are spending the next few weeks in Arizona with our families -- here are some pictures I took over the last month or so.

Shortly before leaving for AZ, I enrolled Joanna in a part time preschool program. She is in the 2 1/2-3 year old room, and has done really well adjusting to new people and places. Here are some pictures I took of Joanna's first day of preschool.

So excited to go to school!

Here we go! Don't want to be late for our first day!

So, I made it 1 year and 10 months without having to take my baby to the emergency room or call poison control....I thought I was on a roll, until.....I found Joanna chomping away on an ENTIRE package of Trident gum (14 pieces to be exact). My first thought was that all of that gum was going to get stuck in her intestines, so I called our pediatrician, who then connected me to poison control. Thankfully, other than having some funky diapers for the next couple of days, poison control assured me that there was nothing to be concerned about....this picture is a reenactment of how I found her that afternoon.

Since coming to AZ, Joanna's personality has really come to light! She is such a goofy little girl, always making some random comment that is sure to make everyone snicker or roll their eyes :) Here is Joanna modeling one of her new dresses.

You would never guess that Joanna was such a ball of energy by looking at these nicely posed pictures.....

Oh wait...I knew she would show her true colors soon enough!

We have been having such a fun time spending time with our family! Here is Joanna having some fun in the AZ sun with her cousins, Emily and Russel.

Not quite sure what is happening in this picture....she's probably giving her imaginary friend a piece of her mind :)
