Although we didn't have a big party, due to the fact that we're new CA and haven't racked up a group of preschool-aged friends yet, we were still fortunate enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Heusser here to help celebrate Joanna's special day! And a special day it was!

Joanna woke up Sunday morning with the grand declaration 'It's my birthday today!!!' She spent the rest of the day soaking up the attention and celebrations -- of course, we couldn't keep her hands off of the presents....my intention was to have her open her gifts after lunch, while we ate some birthday cake. Well, by the time lunch rolled around her pile of presents had dwindled down to a small few, since she spent the morning snatching one here and there and sneaking them into her play tent to unwrap....we knew another gift had bit the dust when: either we heard the slooooowwww tearing of paper (as she tried to be as quite as possible), or when she came bursting around the corner with an 'oooooooooo! look at this!?' :)

Joanna is such an amazing little girl -- she lights up my life and keeps me on my toes! I cannot believe how quickly these last three years have gone -- I still remember the first time I laid eyes on my sweet daughter as if it were yesterday -- her head so perfectly round, her eyes so bright and her cries so feisty and full of life! I love her so very much -- she is my only daughter and, no matter how big she is, will always be my little 'jojo-bean.'
