Grandma and Grandpa H. Visit

We had a wonderful visit with Grandma and Grandpa Heusser this week--this was the first time they had seen Joanna which made our visit extra special. Joanna was on her best behavior the whole visit--we went out to lunch and dinner a number of times and each time she slept through the entire meal...what a trooper! I must say, going out with Grandma and Grandpa has definitely given me more confidence about taking Joanna out on day trips--who knew she would have been such a social butterfly :) We joked during the visit that Joanna seemed to be more happy when she was out and about rather than just sitting at home.

Joanna continues to grow at lightening speed. She has outgrown her newborn clothes and is right on the verge of out growing her 0-3 month sizes (which is fine by me...I ended up buying mostly bigger sizes before she was born thinking she was going to be at least a 9 lb baby at birth--haha). As you can see from her picture she is starting to interact with objects around her. She has discovered the mobile on her swing and loves to watch herself in the mirror. We are understanding her cries better and can usually figure out what she wants before she goes into her hysterical cry--thank goodness! It seems lately that she is most unhappy when she is tired and will usually give us, what I call, her "fake cry" until she falls asleep (sounds like a cross between an exhale, a yawn and a whimper).

Randy will be leaving in 2 weeks for his deployment, so we have been trying to cherish these weeks. It's amazing to think how much Joanna will change in the 2 months Randy will be gone. Luckily, he will be going early enough in Joanna's development that I think he should still be able to be home for her more monumental achievements. Well, I better get going--the princess has called :)
