Randy and I have been talking about re-doing our front yard ever since we moved into our house. Between finding out I was pregnant, having Joanna, deployments, etc. we never quite found the time to actually execute our plan.
We decided a couple of weeks ago that we would schedule our extreme makeover for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, since Randy should have 4 days off, giving us plenty of time to complete the project....Well, in keeping with Heusser tradition, we couldn't wait for our scheduled makeover date to arrive. We decided at 2:00 on Saturday to 'price out' all of our supplies at Lowes...well, 'pricing out' quickly turned into purchasing and before we knew what had happened, we were driving away from Lowes with (literally) 1 ton of mulch, pavers and top soil in the back of our truck! There was no turning back now! After barely making it home (the truck's rear tires were pretty stressed to say the least) I jumped in to my car and headed to the nursery to 'price out'....I mean purchase :) the plants that would be going in the front.
We broke ground around 4:00 on Saturday....worked until 8:30. Went to bed, exhausted, woke-up (before Joanna!) and worked from 8:30 until 1:30....we finished the whole thing in less than 24 hours!!! I cannot believe it!
Joanna was a great sport through the whole project. We set up her play yard in the garage and she watched us work the whole time -- keeping herself occupied with toys, books, and snacks.
I am so proud of the work we pulled off (with minimal argument, I must add!) in such a short time. But, I will say, that I have never felt so much pain in my life! I thought giving birth was bad...no, landscaping takes the cake! :) I'm off to take a hot shower and some Advil (if i can make it up the stairs!)
